The vibrant purple Lunaria Annua Honesty has been popular since Victorian times and is well known for its silvery, moon-like remains of the seed cases which makes it stunning in dried flower arrangements. This fast-growing biennial is headed by a four-petaled flower, blooming in mid-late spring to early summer. The flat papery petals in dark purple are highly addition to borders, woodlands, or wild gardens. It can grow up to 2-3ft (75cm).

When to Sow: Indoor: Jan - Apr
Outdoor: May - Oct

Site Conditions: Preferably fertile and moist, and well-drained soil in full/partial sun which requires low maintenance. Avoid manuring and overfeeding.
How to Sow: Sow into modules or trays from Jan – Apr, under the cover or indoors. Expect the seeds to germinate after 7-10 days at 20-22°C and set plants out in early autumn, when the soil is warm.

Alternatively, sow directly from May - Oct into the soil 1mm deep. Germination takes 5-10 days at 22°C. Keep a spacing of 40-60cm between the seeds. Flowers can grow up to 80cm.
